International Museum Day 2022 at NOESIS

NOESIS, on the occasion of the International Museum Day 2022 (May 18), launches a new way of communicating the “secrets” of the objects in its collection.

On Saturday, May 14, 2022, the visitors at the exhibition of Ancient Greek Technology of the Museum of Technology, with the help of their mobile phone, will have the opportunity to be informed about the operation of 4 sundials that are in its collection.

Using a brochure that will be distributed that day, visitors are asked to locate the items in the showroom and “scan” with their mobile phone camera the QR Code located next to the photo of each exhibit in the booklet.

A page and a short video will appear on the mobile that will refer to the specific object.

The 4 sundials presented are:
– Horizontal sundial
– Portable sundial of Philippi
– Byzantine Clock & Calendar
– Antikythera mechanism

You can watch the video that includes all 4 items at the link https://www.noesis.edu.gr/icom-2022/.

In this way, the power of modern technology becomes the bearer of the power of the Museum to provide reliable knowledge to every visitor.
