Meetings of the President and General Manager of NOESIS with Zoe Rapti and Christos Dimas

Representatives of the Management of the Science Center and Technology Museum – NOESIS met with the Deputy Minister of Development, Zoe Rapti and the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Christos Dimas. NOESIS President, Dr. Styliani Bezergianni and the General Director of the Center, Evangelos Aphthonidis, traveled to Athens in order to bring to the attention of the co-competent Ministers issues related to the operation of the Agency and to ask for their intervention for the immediate resolution of the problems it faces. During the meetings, Dr. Dr. Styliani Bezergianni briefed the two Deputy Ministers on all the initiatives and actions she and the NOESIS Board of Directors have undertaken since January 1, 2023, when they assumed their duties, with the aim of redefining the role of the Agency and its extroversion. He also presented all the challenges and opportunities NOESIS is facing, as well as its consolidation actions. He then informed in detail about the maintenance needs of the unique architectural building that houses the largest screen in the country and SE Europe, as well as the Planetarium. He described the development prospects of the Science Center and Technology Museum, while he also referred to the synergies it develops with both the academic and business community. Both the President and the General Manager of NOESIS highlighted with numbers the uniqueness of the Agency and its contribution to society, the city and the wider region of Northern Greece. The demands of NOESIS Mrs. Bezergianni, after making a brief historical review and a presentation of the main economic figures of the last three years – issues that Mr. Dimas and from his tenure as Deputy Minister of Research and Technology, he requested the immediate intervention of the Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance and the Deputy Minister of Development on issues related to the continued uninterrupted operation of the Agency under the Ministry of Development. He also asked the co-competent Deputy Ministers for their positive recommendation on the request submitted by NOESIS for funding the urgent needs in infrastructure and equipment, related to maintenance and renewal works of equipment that are necessary, as more than 20 years have passed since the construction of the Building. As pointed out by Dr. Styliani Bezergianni The positive response of the co-competent ministers is necessary in order to remove two serious obstacles to the operation of the Agency, which lately has been making significant efforts for its extroversion. He also reminded that the Science Center and Technology Museum-NOESIS is a charitable, cultural, educational, non-profit Foundation that promotes technical culture and creates for the general public the appropriate environment for informing them about developments in science and technology. It is a “jewel” for the whole country, thanks also to its uniqueness.
