NOESIS and the Greek ESERO Office (European Space Education Resource Office), which is an educational axis of the European Space Agency (ESA), signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, aiming at the development and implementation of educational applications of informal education, the cooperation with the educational community, structures of the public and private sector, as well as the Space industry.
In this context, NOESIS and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where the Hellenic Office ESERO is based, headed by Antonios Mouratidis, Assistant Professor of the Department of Geology and Nikolaos Lambrinos, Professor of the Department of Primary Education, offer until the end of 2022 to 400 students of Primary and Secondary level of education throughout the country, 2 free shows at the Planetarium, and after the screenings students are informed about the role and activities of ESERO by a representative of the office. Priority is given to students from remote areas of the country.
Participation in actions and events with ESERO is a goal of NOESIS and is part of the Memorandum of Cooperation between AUTh and NOESIS, signed in May 2022. This collaboration leads to the diffusion of scientific knowledge, STEM sciences and their applications in the study of space, the development of informal education and the provision and popularization of scientific knowledge to citizens, with emphasis on the young generation.
Noesis’ goal is the wider cooperation with a number of activities, including presentations at the Planetarium, educational programs, events and utilization of the modern Astroobservation Station, located in its facilities. Similarly, the Hellenic Office ESERO seeks to train teachers and students of all educational levels throughout the country in STEM sciences through educational programs that use the space environment as a medium.
