Stratos Simopoulos, President of the Research & Technology Committee of the Hellenic Parliament, is at NOESIS
The Chairman of the Research & Technology Committee of the Parliament, Stratos Simopoulos, was briefed on the multidimensional work of NOESIS, as well as on the initiatives undertaken by the President and the Board of Directors since January 1, 2023, when they assumed their duties. Mr. Dr. Simopoulos visited the premises of the Science Center and Technology Museum – NOESIS where he was welcomed by its President, Dr. Styliani Bezergianni, who guided him around the Center’s premises and informed him about the role of the Foundation, the educational programs and recreational activities it implements, as well as the exhibitions it hosts, emphasizing on the actions aimed at the extroversion of the Agency. The chairman of the Research & Technology Committee of the House was impressed by NOESIS’ wide range of actions, while he was informed about critical issues related to its operation. During the meeting, Dr. Styliani Bezergianni presented to Mr. Simopoulos the challenges and opportunities NOESIS is facing, as well as the actions taken by the Management for its resolution. He then informed him in detail about the maintenance needs of the unique architectural building that houses the largest screen in the country and SE Europe, as well as the Planetarium. Mrs. Bezergianni also described the development prospects of the Science Center and Technology Museum, while presenting data that demonstrate its important role, its uniqueness and its contribution to society, the city and the wider region of Northern Greece. He also requested the intervention of the Chairman of the competent Committee of the House to resolve problems related to the continued uninterrupted operation of NOESIS. Among other things, he asked for the support of Mr. Simopoulos to the request that has already been submitted for immediate funding of urgent needs in infrastructure and equipment, and specifically for maintenance and renewal of equipment which are necessary, as more than 20 years have passed since the construction of the Building. Mr. Simopoulos listened carefully to all the issues mentioned to him and promised to visit NOESIS again along with the other members of the Research & Technology Committee of the Parliament. The meeting was also attended by the General Director of NOESIS, Evangelos Aphthonidis, the Secretary General of NOESIS, Akrivos Kakabegas and the Member, Ifigenia Vlachogiannis.
