WATER RESCUE – Report of the Final Conference of the project
Beneficiary Meeting and Final Conference of the project “WATER RESOURCES EFFICIENCY AND CONSERVATIVE USE IN DRINKING WATER SUPPLY SYSTEMS” – WATER RESCUE
Thessaloniki, 15-16 December 2021
In the context of the implementation of the actions of the WATER RESCUE project, DEYA Thermi organized the Final Conference of the project on Thursday 16/12/2021, which took place online. The conference was addressed by the President of DEYA Thermi Mr. Damianos Zelilidis, the Head of the Directorate of Planning & Management of Water Services of the General Secretariat of Natural Environment & Water of RIS Dr. Loukas Georgalas, the President of EYATH. Pagion Mr. Athanasios Tzakopoulos and the General Manager of the Association of Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Companies Mrs. Olga Kotselidou. Reference was made to the importance of increasing the efficient use of drinking water through the reduction of Non-Contributing Water and losses in water supply networks. Ms. Kotselidou mentioned the integrated information system of EDEYA for the quality of drinking water. Representatives of the project beneficiaries participated with suggestions. From DEYA Komotini, which is the main beneficiary, participated Mrs. Maria Vamvaka, who presented the project WATER RESCUE, while Dr. Stavroula Tsitsifli presented the results of the project and the experiences of DEYA Komotini. Ms. Dora Pasia and Mr. Konstantinos Georgakoudis from DEYA Thermi participated and presented the results of the pilot action of DEYA Thermi. From the Municipality of Gotse Delchev participated Mr. Dobromir Moldovanov who presented the pilot actions and their results in the water supply network of the municipality of Gotse Delchev. Finally, on behalf of DEYA Thermaikos, Mr. Symeon Taskaris from the company Geospatial Enabling Technologies participated, who presented the geoinformatics applications developed at DEYA Thermaikos.

At the same time, and in the context of the implementation of the actions of the WATER RESCUE project, DEYA Thermi organized the 5th meeting of the project beneficiaries on Wednesday 15/12/2021, which took place online. In the meeting in which the beneficiaries of the project participated, the progress of the actions of the WATER RESCUE project that ends on 31/12/2021 was presented. The meeting was attended by Ms. Zoe Tselia, project officer from the Technical Secretariat of the Interreg V-A Cooperation Program “Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020”.
The Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Company of Thermi participates since November 2017 in the implementation of the project with the acronym “WATER RESCUE” and full title “WATER RESOURCES EFFICIENCY AND CONSERVATIVE USE IN DRINKING WATER SUPPLY” water), which is implemented under the Interreg VA Cooperation Program “GREECE – BULGARIA 2014-2020” and the participation of six (6) beneficiaries:

– University of Thessaly – Ε.Λ.Κ.Ε. – Department of Civil Engineering
– Municipality of Kardzhali
– Municipality of Gotse Delchev
– DEYA Thermaikos
The aim of the project is the sustainable management of transboundary water resources and the achievement of conservative water use, by improving water quality throughout the water supply cycle, increasing water efficiency and reducing the vulnerability of water resource management systems in climate change.
The project “WATER RESCUE” is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the National Resources of the countries participating in the Interreg V-A Cooperation Program “Greece – Bulgaria 2014-2020”.
